Bitmap City Vol. 1
Bitmap City Vol. 1 is CRFTD’s Genesis Ordinal project, intersecting digital and physical landscapes. 25 1/1 pieces exist and can be found on MagicEden.
The first time I witnessed a Bitcoin block form, I was stunned. Transactions processed in real time, with districts and parcels coming to life—arranging and rearranging like a city developing from barren land.
When I discovered Bitmaps, inspiration struck. I felt compelled to juxtapose the digital city with my own aerial photography of real cities, towns, and farms. Overlaying the two would symbolize the merging of our worlds: digital meets physical.
I acquired twenty-five unique Bitmaps with varying block formations and historical significance, including some with sats:
Mined by Satoshi Nakamoto himself
From Block 9—the oldest sats in circulation
Mined within the first 1,000 blocks
From Block 78—mined by Hal Finney, the first person besides Satoshi to mine
Pizza sats—from the 10,000 bitcoins used to purchase Papa John’s pizzas on May 22, 2010
Then, I meticulously merged my art with the blockchain elements, using a retro, neon color palette—led by Orange—to define the Ordinal space.
Welcome to Bitmap City Vol. 1. Enjoy.
